Challenging Math Problem (PSLE) with solution



88 children took part in a swimming competition.
1/3 of the boys and 3/7 of the girls wore swimming goggles.
Altogether 34 children wore swimming goggles.
How many girls wore swimming goggles on that day?

  1. While I could see that you tried to differentiate between the units representing the boys and girls with different colours, the size of the units seems to indicate that they are the same. A more accurate depiction would be to use units of different length to represent the boys and the girls. Just a minor point for your consideration.
